IRCAI is a Category 2 center under the auspices of UNESCO and its focus is directly on artificial intelligence. IRCAI was founded by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. Its reach is global, as it highlights Slovenia on the world stage as a country that, based on its experience and achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, has created a suitable environment for the establishment of such a center.

IRCAI operates in accordance with the common values of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and is aligned with Agenda 2030 and the UNESCO Recommendations on the Ethics of AI. It is a network of institutions and experts from Slovenia and around the world. It offers open and transparent dialogue and can provide both technological and political support to stakeholders around the world in the planning and implementation of artificial intelligence.
