The Institute is member of the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations EARTO.
We are convinced that technological development is a two-way process. The Institute itself does not keep all the knowledge that might immediately be transformed into profit by an enterprise; that kind of knowledge can only be the result of a partnership between the Institute and such an enterprise. Therefore, the Institute is establishing the critical mass required for technological development, which is about making connections with the enterprise sector and with other research institutions within Europe.
We believe that making money out of knowledge is just as important as creating knowledge out of money. Our task is to close this loop, and for this reason we aim to open the doors of our research laboratories to the domestic and European enterprise sector.
Building international partnerships is the main strategic orientation of the Institute. The Institute offers a wide spectrum of research areas and excellent laboratory facilities. The Institute is fostering public-private partnerships to design, propose and launch new projects, taking part in EU or other international research programmes.
International collaboration is recognized as a necessary paradigm for advancing technologies and solving global problems. In the last year the Institute was involved in 248 international projects, 98 were within the EU framework projects.
