Postal service

There are several post offices in Ljubljana. Their opening hours are from 7:00 to 19:00, while on Saturdays they close at 13:00 .


Telephone

The country code for Slovenia is 386. City codes are 1 for Ljubljana, 2 for Maribor, etc. The international exit code is 00. Public phones are operated by chip-cards, which you can buy at the post office or at the newsstands. Check the On-line telephone directory of Slovenia, which is regularly updated.

In November 2000 a major reorganization of the telephone numbering system has been completed. Area codes lost the leading 6 (e.g. Ljubljana area code 61 was replaced by 1) and some area boundaries have changed. Most telephone numbers were changed as well, at least the leading one or more digits. Get a new telephone number from an old one.

Shops: 8:00 to 19:00, Saturdays to 13:00
Post offices: 7:00 to 19:00, Saturdays to 13:00
Banks: 9:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00, Saturdays 9:00 to 12:00
Central market: 7:00 to 16:00, Saturdays to 14:00

Most shops and offices are closed on Sundays.


Electrical voltage

In Slovenia the mains voltage is 220 V, 50 Hz. Standard European electrical sockets (German standard) are being used.


Legal Time

Time zone for Slovenia is CET, which one hour ahead (East) of UTC, (UTC+1). During summer a daylight saving time is observed (CEST, UTC+2). The daylight saving rules observed are the same as in the European Union.
