Tjaša Okleščen, a young researcher at the Department of Nanostructured Materials (K7) and a PhD student at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, received second prize for her oral presentation at the 31st International Conference on Materials and Technology (ICM&T). The award was presented as part of the conference's traditional young researchers’ competition; this year, 21 participants presented their research. Her presentation, titled “Additive Manufacturing of 2Y-TZP Dental Zirconia: The Role of Layer Build-up Orientation,” focused on how build orientation influences the microstructure and properties of additively manufactured dental zirconia ceramics. Understanding these relationships is important for optimizing additive manufacturing processes and improving the reliability of ceramic materials intended for dental restorations. The study was conducted during the first year of her PhD studies and is part of her broader doctoral research exploring the potential of additive manufacturing and 2Y-TZP zirconia ceramics in dentistry.
