Scientific interest

  • Dr. Bhagat, an enthusiastic computational physicist, and materials scientist, works on designing high efficiency catalytic material for Hydrogen/Oxygen evolution reactions and Carbon Dioxide/Nitrogen reduction reactions. During his doctoral study, he functionalized graphitic carbon nitride through doping/loading, intercalation, homo-bilayer-, and heterostructure-formation to investigate the correlation of reaction kinetics, and charge transfers. In collaboration with the experimentalist, he have worked on verifying the HER/OER active sites along with the charge transfer mechanism within co-doped systems, Cluster-decorated systems, and amorphous borides. While working with a master's dissertation student and collaborators, his field of research extended to ammonia gas sensors, magnetic materials, thermoelectric materials, and photovoltaic materials. Post PhD., he worked as a research associate on the electrocatalytic CO2RR, role of additives on the Zinc electrode surface in the Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries, and solute-additive solvation models.
