The Computer Systems Department conducts research in advanced optimization algorithms, intelligent large-scale data processing, data management and visualization, and adaptive computing architectures for efficient and reliable algorithm execution. The department focuses on self-adaptive and autonomous systems, as well as the modeling and optimization of complex, dynamic, and non-deterministic processes.
We apply our research in diverse fields, including manufacturing, transportation, mobility, bioinformatics, nutrition, healthcare, and medicine. Through strong international academic collaborations and close industry partnerships, the department remains at the forefront of rapidly evolving scientific and technological developments. Department members are also actively involved in higher education. Our highly qualified researchers lecture and mentor students at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School and the University of Ljubljana.
