Vsebinski opis projekta

Kompresijsko hladilna tehnika je stara več kot 200 let. Njena nizka učinkovitost je posledica velikega dela pri stiskanju plina, ki se nato razširi in odvzame toploto sistemu, ki ga je potrebno ohladiti. Večina domačih hladilnikov deluje pod 50% Carnotovega izkoristka. Druga težava pri današnjih hladilnikih je uporaba hladilnih sredstev, ki dokazano škodujejo podnebnim razmeram. Omenjeno nam daje nekaj predstave o "hladilnem" problemu, s katerim se dandanes sooča svet: imamo staro in neučinkovito tehnologijo, ki se ne more spoprijeti z velikanskimi zahtevami glede učinkovitosti, vpliva na okolje in miniaturizacije hladilnih naprav. Obetavna rešitev je uporaba hlajenja na osnovi kaloričnega pojava. Cilj projekta je razviti novo generacijo hladilnih elementov, ki v istem vzorcu kombinirajo elektrokalorični (EK) in magnetokalorični (MK) učinek (multikalorični učinki, kratko (E+M)C). To bo izvedeno na dva načina: pripravili bomo kompozitne in enofazne multikalorične elemente.

Faze projekta in opis njihove realizacije

1. Priprava prahov: Pripravili smo prahove na osnovi PMN-PT in PFN-BFO. Pripravili smo prahove z različnimi velikostmi delcev ter jih z nanosom v aerosolu nanesli na podlage. Preučevali smo, kako lastnosti začetnega prahu vplivajo na depozicijo debelih plasti. Dognanja smo objavili v članku v reviji Acta Materialia. Plasti smo tudi okarakterizirali in raziskave objavili v reviji Small Methods in Journal of materials chemistry. C. Pripravili smo tudi materiale brez svinca (objava v reviji Journal of Materials Chemistry A).

2. Multikalorični kompoziti: Sprva smo preučili pripravo večplastnih kompozitov keramika/kovina z metodo nanosa v aerosolu. Raziskave smo objavili v revijah Materials and Crystals. Nadalje smo pripravili multikalorične kompozite z metodo nanosa v aerosolu. Kompozite smo celostno okarakterizirali. Rezultate smo objavili v 5 znansvenih člankih, dva članka pa sta poslana v objavo v znansveno revijo (marec 2026).

3. Priprava enofaznih multikalorikov: Pripravlili smo PFN-BFO keramiko in plasti z različnimi dopanti. Pripravljene elemente smo celostno okarakterizirali. Na to temo smo objavili dva znanstvena članka.

Naredili pa smo še veliko več, kot je bilo sprva obljuljeno v projektu. Preučevali smo tudi materiale brez svinca, za okolju prijazne hladilne elemente. Nadalje smo elementom dodali še dodano funkcionalnost-zmožnost shranjevanja energije. Vsa dognanja smo objavili v 15 znansvenih člankih (navedeni spodaj).

4. Upravljanje projekta: objavili smo 16 znanstvenih člankov. Raziskave smo predstavili tudi na 45 mednarodnih konferencah (izbrane bibliografske reference so navedene spodaj). Ivana Goričan je na konferenci MPŠ dobila 1. nagrado za najboljši prispevek na temo PFN-BFO keramike in debelih plasti. Ivana Goričan in Victor Regis sta na mednarodni konferenci ISAF 2025 prejela nagradi za študente (3. in 1. mesto na tekmovanju Pitch competition).
